From atop the Citadel of Aleppo
من فوق قَلعة حَلَب
من فوقْ ((قَلعة حَلَب)) ومريض وباعْنِي
ومريض بحالة تَلَفْ، ولا اعتَنَى بِيِّ
بالله يا طيرِ الحَمَام، مِنْ سَايَلُوكْ عَنِّي
قُل لِهّمْ بخيرِ، وسَلامِ، وناوي عَ جَيِّه
From atop the Citadel of Aleppo, ill and abandoned me
And sick to the point of ruin, yet he did not care for me
By God, O dove, if they ask you about me
Tell them I am well, at peace, and planning to return
